This little amphibian is called curur├║ in Tupi-Guarani, the most common
of the Brazilian Indian languages.
Marine toads are toothless and live under the ground in humid climate. The newly hatched tadpoles live underwater and breath in oxygen through gills. These toads are nocturnal. They store very strong poison in internal glands located in their necks, but they cannot expel their poison by themselves. The poison can only get out when the glands are squeezed, either by another animal or by someone who does so on purpose.
